A glance of activities under the project:-

Agricultural

  • IPM and Organic farming techniques are regularly imparted to the farmers. BCI techniques have been imparted to and adopted by 73087 farmers from 554 villages of 24 blocks from Amravati and Yavatmal districts for improvement in Cotton quality and productivity for enhancing income of Cotton growing farmers. Farmers have been imparted trainings in identification of pests, pest management, soil building, fertilizer management, use of bio-pesticides and bio-fertilizers for protection of environment. Farmers also imparted trainings in methods of harvesting, storage and marketing.
  • One other prominent activity of the organization is Promotion and formation of Farmer’s Producer Companies for productivity enhancement, value addition and marketing. Vikasganga has already promoted 25 FPC’s in Vidarbha and Marathwada Regions of Maharashtra State. The project is being run under guidance and implementing support from Small Farmers Agri Business Consortium, (SFAC) New Delhi under Central Governments initiative of promotion of 10000 FPOs. Generated awareness among farmers about seed treatment.
    Proper knowledge imparted to FPO members about seed treatment of Cotton, Soybean, and Toor crops for maximizing the germination percentage. The FPC directors were given training in the management of FPC. In Rabbi Season 500 farmers had participated in the Gram Seed production process.

Soil & Water conservation work 

  • Soil & Water conservation measures and rain water harvesting using innovative techniques for making availability of water for drinking and irrigation purpose has been carried out as detailed below.
  • Implementation of “Galmukt Dharan Galyukt Shiwar Abhiyan” to increase water storage capacity of Dam or Tank and use of silt for improving soil health. Under De-siltation of tanks the beneficiaries and villages covered are as below.

Women empowerment and child education

  • Under promotion and formation of SHG’s imparted training and skill to 500 women members from 35 villages for starting of poultry rearing business by 500 women members under support of Tata Trust. Total 1200 women beneficiaries were provided with LPG gas Connections. Now also 500 smokeless stoves have been provided to same numbers of women beneficiaries from 10 villages of Ghatanji block. The smokeless stoves require very less fuel say about 25 %
    .
  • Child rights protection, Improving learning outcomes in primary schools and facilitation for adoption of skills by youth. Digital education project is being run in 30 villages covering 2605 students. Child right awareness carried out in 105 villages. Child marriages were stopped in 30 villages. Child labour have been restricted and 28 children were linked with Child Nurturing Schemes meant for orphan children under Women and Child Development Department.

Community Kitchen

Activity of community kitchen is being run for 12 male- female old age persons from village. Presently this activity is being run under people’s contribution and personal donations.

Vikasganga Samajsevi Sansthaisa registered non-governmental, non-profit, voluntary organization was founded by a group of social activists in 1996 with the specific objectives to solve the Livelihood.
